On August 25th local time, the asphalt concrete pavement of the Kyrgyzstan ED Highway Project, constructed by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group under CREC, was completed. This milestone lays a solid foundation for achieving the goal of opening the highway to traffic by November this year.
The project is located in the high-altitude, cold mountainous region of Naryn Province in central Kyrgyzstan, with a total length of 69.7 kilometers. It includes a double-span bridge and 130 transverse culverts, connecting the southern regions of Osh, Batken, and Jalal-Abad with the northern regions of Naryn and Issyk-Kul.
The ED Highway Project is a key component of the South-North Economic Cooperation Corridor and represents a significant infrastructure development in Kyrgyzstan. Upon completion, the project is expected to greatly enhance South-North connectivity within Kyrgyzstan and promote economic development along the route.
